Roses at the Volksgarten
The Volksgarten (People’s Garden) was created around 1820 on the site of some city fortifications that had been destroyed by Napoleon. Located near the Hofburg Palace in the Innere Stadt, it is a lovely green oasis in the middle of downtown. In late spring and early summer it features a spectacular rose garden that is popular with residents, tourists, and photographers.

There are dozens of different varieties of roses.
A nightclub and a restaurant pavilion are also located at the park which is open daily. Closest transport is the U3 Herrengasse station or trams 1, 2, and D, Volksgarten stop.
