Restaurant review: Bamkraxl

What’s better than hanging out and enjoying some cold drinks and delicious food at a beer garden with your family?

Simple: eating out at a beer garden that surrounds an enclosed playground! It’s a perfect win/win for young and old alike!

Where to find such paradise? Look no further than Bamkraxl in the 19th. Yes, it’s a bit of a hike outside of town to get there (take tram D to the last stop, 5 minute walk from there) but your kids will thank you and you will enjoy delicious food and cold drinks!

The restaurant offers a family brunch on Sunday (11am-2pm; make a reservation) and while not always very busy, I usually call ahead to make sure we get a table overlooking the playground. There are also arts and craft afternoons in the fall (Tuesdays and Wednesdays from September on, check the website) and there is a small indoor play area in addition to the playground. Older kids can borrow a Nintendo DS to entertain them as well!

If you’re already in Nussdorf, check out the train playground and hop on a ride on the Heuriger Express!
