Das Vollbunte Wohnzimmer (“Fully Colored Living Room”) is a great place for very young children, birth to 1 1/2 years. Located in the 5th district, it is exactly what the name says: a very colorful “living room” full of books, toys, and games for little children to play with while their parents enjoy a cup of coffee and light snacks (soups, cakes, breads) freshly made in the kitchen.
The owners also host children’s cooking classes and birthday parties for older kids on the weekends.
For more information:
Little Big Ones is an English-language play group for preschoolers, ages ca. 18 months through three years. The children sing nursery rhymes, dance, listen to a story, and do a craft related to the story (parent participation required). There is also “parent time” when children have free play and parents can enjoy a cup of coffee and talk to each other. The groups are split based based on age.
For the schedule and registration contact the moderator, Erica Schenk (there is no website for the group) at firstname.lastname@example.org
Overwhelmed by how to search for a preschool for your child?
In Austria, pre-schools are called “Kindergarten” – traditional models enroll kids ages 2.5 and up but many accommodate younger kids as well (called “Kinderkrippe”). Search this site for a listing by district of free childcare options (“Betreuungsplaetze”) . This site also lists additional places.
